Back to Training After the Winter Break
2020 is over and so is the winter break. After a three week vacation from shooting I started to practice again last week. There have been a lot of things going on for the past couple months and the break has really done me good. I’m feeling much better and motivated to train again.
Too Many Thoughts and Emotions
I need a break.
Kevin Venta: “Pull the Trigger Slowly in the Last Moment, When Your Aim Is Still”
Kevin Venta is one of the shooters that I’ve found thanks to social media (there are a lot of shooters on Instagram!). Originally Slovenian, he is now member of the German national team and has managed to fulfill two of his shooting dreams. He’s had an impressive progress since he started pistol shooting (six months after he begun training he managed his first 100 points series). A shooter to follow and to learn from.
Loneliness, Intellect, and the Middle Finger
A training update on loneliness, intellectual challenges, and the effects of the middle finger on the pistol grip.
Upheaval and Training
Very personal.
Safe Place Meditation Technique for Target Pistol Shooters
After the cardiac coherence (CC in my shooting journals) exercise that I learned from Aurore Goberville, here’s another mental technique for target pistol shooters: the safe place meditation (noted as SP in my journals).
Confinement Pistol Training Plan (Home Again!)
With the new confinement measures going on, coach Daniel Goberville has prepared a training programme to train 100% at home. It is a continuation of the previous personalized and group trainings and dives a bit deeper into solving my latest issues with trigger decision.
Alan Goldberg (Dr G): “What We Focus on Is the Central Skill in Developing Mental Toughness”
Alan Goldberg (aka Dr G) is a sports psychology coach that shares a lot of helpful tips and resources through his YouTube and social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). He has a lot of experience in multiple sports, including target athletes like us pistol shooters, and a didactic passion that transcends his videos and texts. He’s published at least 15 books that you can find on Amazon, among which are Sports Slump Busting and This is your brain on sports (Amazon affiliate links)
